Terms of the action or commitment

Renault Group was the first carmaker to put in place a recycled plastics usage strategy in the early 90’s, and to invest in the recycling value chain via the creation of its Renault Environnement subsidiary in 2008 and the acquisition of a 50% share in Indra the leading end-of-life vehicle dismantling network in France. The Group took new major steps towards the integration of circular economy throughout its value chain by launching in 2020 the ReFactory, first European factory dedicated to the circular economy of mobility, and in late 2022 The Future is NEUTRAL, the first company operating across the entire automotive circular economy value chain.

A pioneer and a leader within the automotive industry in recycled plastics usage and closed loop recycling of materials from end-of-life vehicles (polypropylene, copper and platinum group metals from catalytic converters), Renault set itself the commitment to incorporate a 33% share of recycled materials (by mass) in its new vehicles by 2030.
