100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging by 2025 in the United-Kingdom and in Ireland
Terms of the action or commitment
The commitment made by Sodexo UK & Ireland reflects the group’s desire to move towards more responsible practices in terms of resource use, with particular attention to the plastic issue.
Sodexo’s approach to the use of disposable in catering is based on three pillars: prevent the use, shift to reusables, and achieve a sustainable range of products.
– Prevent the use and achieve a sustainable range of products
Capitalizing on the work carried out for the European zone, supply guides will be developed for new geographical areas such as China. Defining the preferred, tolerated and prohibited materials by product category, these guides aim at reducing the environmental impact of Sodexo products.
– Shift to reusables
Sodexo will continue to work with start-ups and suppliers to find and adapt innovative solutions for takeaway sales.
Deposit experiments will be conducted at “take-away” points of sale. At least one consultation of suppliers on a national perimeter and for a given type of consumer will be carried out.
The EU purchasing teams will also use the Supply Guide on Reusables to promote, tolerate or prohibit the various materials available on the market.
