Objective: test at least one pilot reuse project in France by 2025
In 2020, Verallia announced the launch of a first pilot project in France by 2025.
To achieve this goal Verallia:
– created a French reuse department in 2021
– published a white paper on reuse in collaboration with key players in the reuse value chain in March 2022
– organized a forum dedicated to reuse, accessible both face-to-face and remotely: “Re-use Lab” on March 17, 2022
The White Paper published in March 2022 brings together more than a dozen key players around the same topic: ” Reimagining reuse for the circular economy of glass”. Among the actors, associations (FEVE, CITEO, Ellen MacArthur Foundation), washers (UZAJE) and actors of reuse in France or abroad (fritz-kola, Procter & Gamble, TerraCycle and LOOP, GeMeMa, Companhia Müller de Bebidas, Genossenschaft Deutscher Brunnen, Diageo, Carrefour).
The launch of a forum dedicated to reuse on March 17, 2022 brought together the contributors of the white paper to share their experiences and question them on the various challenges related to reuse: consumer expectations, the logistics of collecting and cleaning glass, etc.
This Forum gathered more than 90 people in person and more than 120 people digitally and is now accessible to all in replay.
These first two events position Verallia as a proactive change agent. They provide an opportunity to share visions, experiences, and expertise, and to exchange ideas with players in the field of recycling and those who wish to become involved. To meet the objective of launching a first pilot project in France by 2025, it will be necessary to test and evaluate what works and what doesn’t, and to conduct relevant comparative studies to draw lessons.
